I know two.
My aunt was diagnosed with it about 8 years ago. She underwent treatment, followed her doctors' advice, prayed and now the disease is in remission. I remember speaking to her by phone, at the time we lived in different states. My curiosity wanted to ask her so many questions, yet my heart wouldn't let me.
I could hear a positive attitude in her voice many times when I talked to her. But there were times when she couldn't bring herself to speak about it. Not walking in her shoes, there was no way I could know how she was really feeling.
This year, one of my best friends was diagnosed with breast cancer. She is grateful she doesn't have to undergo chemo, however, she says the radiation treatments exhaust an make her ill sometimes. Basically, she has good days and bad days.
A long time ago, I remember reading somewhere that there is a 1 in 3 chance that a woman will be stricken with breast cancer, I wonder if that is still applicable today? Hopefully, it hasn't increased. I know the chances for survival are greater if the disease is caught early enough.
