I thought this was a novel idea.

Sending 50 long stem pink roses to a breast cancer survivor. 10% of the proceeds go to the Maine affilliates of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation.

Before my father died of lung cancer, he told us to give him flowers while he was alive; don't wait until he died. That's basically what these 50 long stem pink roses represent. Give them to someone whom you know and love now, while they can enjoy them.

What better time to do it than now? October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and many times you can be a beacon of light to a breast cancer patient just by offering to do the simple things.

Such as, providing a ride to and from chemotherapy treatments. Offering to pick up the kids from school on those 'good days and bad days' that our friends and loved ones often have.

Sometimes just providing an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on can mean a world of difference.
