I think it's time to move on up, like George & Weezy.

I'm real close to my plateau, so I've been subconsciously plotting my new route. The 2 miles I walk 5 times weekly is becoming an easy task. So, I think that means I'm supposed to climb up the next rung.

Joke, joke. I know exactly what it means, time to move on up to a deluxe apartment in the sky. Now, I might have to give up my once a week McDonalds plain hamburger. That is truly my guilty pleasure. This is my red meat weakness. I have others, but they don't seem to be interfering with anything, not yet anyway.

But the walking is definitely making my legs look good. I don't mean to boast, but walking is refining the natural definition of them along with some other pluses. :) Like my posture. Whenever we're hanging out, I am more conscious of how I'm sitting in public. If I'm not sitting properly, my back will ache. Once I correct it though, it stops. There's no doubt a connection there.

Another thing that is happening, is my attitude towards food is changing. Before I started to lose weight, I approached food like a conquest--sort of cave-mandish. Yep, barbaric sounding I know, but it was a matter of how much could I accumulate in my home. More, more, more! Certainly this is some Freudian symptom of a bigger neurosis, (wink, wink).

Now, when I grocery shop, the goal is get stuff I like, that is healthy and won't make me gain 10 pounds each helping. I also keep my eyes peeled for coupons. Clipping coupons weekly is very relaxing, so it has a double benefit for me.

As always I'll keep you updated with everything. Even though I'm no longer training for Team Challenge, I am Walking To Cure Diabetes and still need your support. I lost my 23 year old son, Warren Pride Jr., to complications from this disease, April 28, 2005, and I am walking for him. Show your support by going to my donation page.

I am sorry to hear about your son. Diabetes is a killer bitch. I wanted to comment on your walking. For myself, about 70 days ago I could not walk down the street and back (2 blocks). Now, I am walking almost 8 miles. I power walk and the way I improve is by either concentrating on distance or speed, not both. I first started out by walking a 1.5 miles and how fast I could power walk it. Once I maintained the same speed at the same distance, then I increased the distance and tried to decrease my time walking. My focus once I increased the distance is to see how fast I can power walk. Now, 70 days later, I am at almost 8 miles at about one hour and fifty minutes. I use my power walk as a form of meditation. Good Luck in your endeavors.

You are right in thinking a little change can help. Sounds like you have reached a plateau, and the only why I could get past those, is to change my routine for a couple of weeks, as soon as your body gets over the shock of a new routine, the pounds should start coming off quickly, and you can even go back to your usual routine. At least that is what works for me, when I am serious about losing weight. You certainly sound determined enough for it to work. :)
